The University of Montana

The University of Montana LogoBlue Marble is working with researchers at the University of Montana to develop natural algal products using patent-pending algae strains, growth systems, and extraction technologies. Potential products include organic fertilizers, natural pigments, food flavorings, fatty acids for biofuels, cholesterol-reducing compounds for food additives, anti-inflammatory drugs, and anti-cancer drugs. In addition to producing commercial pathways for algae-derived chemical products, the partnership produces opportunities for students at the University of Montana and the UM College of Technology. Montana Department of Natural Resources & Conservation

Montana Department of Natural Resources and Conservation LogoIn Fall 2010, Blue Marble was awarded the Regional Woody Biomass Utilization Grant by Montana’s Department of Natural Resources and Conservation. The grant is designed to diversify and strengthen the forest products industry in Montana. Using wood byproducts that are usually burned, Blue Marble will sustainably reprocess this material to create renewable chemicals.
